2026 - A Quick Round Up!

15th September 2026

Well, September already, and we have our eyes firmly fixed on the coming of autumn and the pending winter ahead. After such a glorious summer, what will the seasons bring for us this year? A good time to reflect and look back over what has been an incredibly busy and interesting summer. We have been engaged in some outstanding one-off projects and surveyed countless more, an awful lot of our enquiries generally come to us through word of mouth and recommendations. However this has also been our first summer of actively promoting our website through social and targetted communication channels with our long-standing collegues at Lazy Grace.

Highlight project of the year has to be our involvement in the cleaning of the Swing Bridge on Newcastle’s Quayside in celebration of her 150th Anniversary. The enquiry landed early May and preparation soon began for a June commencement, this wonderful opportunity was brought to us through our new web site, an opportunity that may have passed us by otherwise. Thankfully we landed the job after a series of very productive meetings with our new found friends and colleagues at BCE Northern Ltd. You can read all about the project here.

The Swing Bridge project was delivered successfully and on time, I was only driving across the old girl last week and was delighted to notice she is still looking sparkling clean and no graffiti tags yet…..fingers crossed this continues.

From the Swing Bridge project our Teams moved a little bit further up into the city and onto the refurbishment of Durrant Hall which is being delivered by Main contractor Aptus Construction on behalf on Northumbria University. We received elevation drawings of the north and west facades mainly constructed with Ashlar close bond stone, the building is of Art Deco design and I believe it is one of the oldest surviving examples of Art Deco architecture in Newcastle upon Tyne. Durrant Hall has quite an interesting History and is well worth looking up. Our remit was to DOFF clean the external facades to the north and east elevation, however during my initial site survey it was noted that the face of the stone was not only dirty with organic day to day weathering, like most city centre buildings which have endured the 20th century, it was quite heavily contaminated with carbon build up. The DOFF system can not and does not remove calcium or carbon deposits, however does deliver a very effective sympathetic clean of grime and organic matter from masonry surfaces, for calcium and carbon deposits another StoneHealth product is required in the form of the Torc system. The client was advised of the limitations of the DOFF however decided to proceed. The results were very impressive I have to say and the client delighted, although carbon staining is still very evident in areas overall there is a 95% improvement in the presentation of the building.

Remaining with Durrant Hall and after the success of which we have been commissioned to Doff clean the stonework to the high level tower followed by the redecoration of the windows frames and surrounds via industrial rope access. Previously the project was considered too expensive due to the cost of scaffolding and restricted movement for large MEWPs. We are hoping to complete this project late mid to late October.

Ellison Building, Ellison Place, Newcastle upon Tyne, again on the back of us delivering Durrant Hall successfully Aptus Construction have invited us to consult and price for elevation cleaning on the upcoming refurbishment, on behalf of Northumbria University.

Our rope access teams have been involved with this summers refurbishment works to Hall 1 at the Glasshouse International Centre for Music. We were engaged directly by Glasshouse to supervise safe access for engineers and technicians to replace acoustic curtains in backstage void areas. The project was delivered safely, effectively and on time. We are very much looking forward to the Glasshouse reopening later this month, please check out their website for upcoming events, they put on some great shows at this truly iconic North East venue.

Later this month we will commencing a very unusual but interesting job which I feel truly demonstrates our multi-skilled capability and can-do attitude in our approach to client’s requests when unusual requests do come in! We relish all interesting projects where there is a possibility we can assist and deliver, often way out of our usual remit. Try us! This enquiry came on the back of our work on the Swing Bridge earlier this summer, weather permitting we should commence works at a hidden location on the outskirts of the city engaged in the redecoration of a footbridge. Watch this space.

Our Travelodge teams continue to deliver window cleaning services across the entire UK estate and have a bumper programme of Hotels to clean between now and Christmas across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.

Our Rapid response street cleaning teams continue to provide a truly super service and get involved with some great projects and events throughout the year. NE1 do a fabulous job for our business community within the NE1 postcode and way beyond across the North East in my opinion and we are very proud to be considered part of their team. This year we have expanded our team and have 5 operatives in 3 vans covering Newcastle city centre 7 days a week 364 days per year.

Local Reach and Wash window cleaning teams continue with their great work delivering clean windows daily to our much valued long established and new clients across the North East. We recently welcomed back an old client after works had been put on hold after major refurb works at their site in Cramlington. American Air Flilters are back on the monthly schedule. We are also being kept very busy by our old friends at Taylor Wimpey. New home sales appear to be remaining steady in the North East as we continue to visit new build sites across the North East window cleaning show homes and providing initial external window cleaning to new build properties, brick cleaning, roof cleaning and jet washing. We continue to build on our 31 year commercial relationship with Taylor Wimpey. That’s a long time.
