Home of the Northern Sinfonia
A music venue of International Importance

We have worked with the Glasshouse International Music Centre for over 20 years.

A relationship which was formed when we were approached by Sir. Norman Foster architect to consult in how such a uniquely designed building could be safely and effectively accessed for External and Internal window cleaning and maintenance.

The shape of the roof at the time posed a particular problem however with carful planning and consultation we devised a work positioning system which would give our Rope Access Window Cleaning Technicians and our Rope Access Maintenance Technicians total access to every square inch of the building.

ISIS Facility Services Ltd are very proud of the fact, we are still working in partnership with the Glasshouse after a partnership standing over 2 decades, providing:

External Window Cleaning

Rope Access Window Cleaning

Reach and Wash Window Cleaning

Internal Window Cleaning

External Roof Cleaning

Cladding Cleaning

Gutter Cleaning

Graffiti Removal

Jet Washing

External Hard Surfaces

Chewing Gum Removal

General External Cleaning & Maintenance

Because of the unique shape of the Glasshouse it presents many unique access issues, our internal knowledge of the structure gives us the unique ability to assist the Glasshouse in receiving some unique presentations and performances.

Over the years, including an episode of Blue Peter for BBC TV when Joel Defries was a presenter in 2007. BBC Blue Peter researchers and the long-time producer Alex Leger got in touch with us and asked if we could help them do an episode when Joel learns to clean windows and abseil at our training centre in Cramlington in preparation for the final cleaning the external windows as a Rope Access Window Cleaning Technician.

ISIS Facility Services received a Blue Peter Badge for our efforts.

Olympic Torch relay bearers 2012 – We were contacted in the utmost of secrecy in Early 2011 with an initial expansion of interest from the 2012 Olympic Planning Committee to see if it would be possible for us to relay the torch down the North Elevation of the Glasshouse via Rope Access.

We were to receive the torch from Bear Grylls who was to play his part by crossing the Tyne via a zip line, then, appearing on the roof to hand over to one of our Rope Access Technicians.

All of this was rehearsed again and again for months prior to the day. Every single handover had to be executed and completed to the second as the effect of the time loss would be felt weeks and months down the line in the opening ceremony.

ISIS choreographed and executed our part of the 2012 Olympics successfully and with the enormous sense of achievement  for all of the team…... We still have our torch proudly on display.

ISIS also provided and manned safe roof access and safe roof management for the entire event.

Great exhibition of the North 2016.

We received an enquiry from a corporate events company who wanted to know if it was possible to transform the entire front elevation of the Glasshouse International Music Centre into a giant projector screen by applying a specialist duo vision vinyl to the North elevation / Front elevation glazing.

We installed and applied via Work Positioning Techniques and industrial Rope Access.

The vinyl was a duo vision vinyl so as not to obstruct the beautiful vista of Newcastle Quayside from the windows of the main concourse and to enable a clear projection screen for a film to be projected over the Tyne from Newcastle Quayside.

The vinyl application took a team of 6 Rope Access Technicians 21 days to successfully apply the vinyl via Industrial Rope Access.  The vinyl removal only took 6 days with a team of 6 Rope Access Technicians to remove.

A lot of Rope Access skills, knowledge and experience gained over the years have been mastered here, Industrial Rope Access Northeast.
